Various Departments :
DEPARTMENT
OF PHARMACEUTICS
Pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology.
Pharmaceutics mainly deals with the
development, production and evaluation
of Pharmaceutical dosage forms. For
this, apart from pharmaceutics certain
other disciplines like physical pharmacy
and pharmaceutical engineering are
also integrated. Knowledge of physical
pharmacy helps the performulation
task while during formulation and
production the knowledge becomes important.
Engineering helps mainly in tackling
industrial scale production.
Other allied subjects which are important
and are associated with this department
are Dispensing Microbiology, Hospital
Pharmacy and cosmeticology.
The department has 4 UG Laboratories.
The UG Labs include pharmaceutics-I,
pharmaceutics-II, Microbiology and
physical pharmacy labs.
The labs have certain GMP standards
implemented including concealed sewage
lines, sunken basins, tiled table
tops.
Lab has sterile area with wash and
change areas, air locks, HEPA filters
and well designed service lines.
The machine room is equipped with
machines to deal with dosage development.
Department
of pharmaceutical Chemistry
The institute has 3 well equipped
chemistry labs for both UG and diploma
students.
Department
of Pharmacognosy:
This department is related to medicinal
plants and other natural materials.
This department has 2UG labs, crude
drug museum and herbarium specimens
of several plant materials.
Department
of Pharmacology:
Pharmacology is one of the important
subjects which deals with detailed
study of drugs particularly their
action on living being.
The staff teaches subjects like Anatomy
and pathophysiology, topics like pharmacokinetics,
Toxcology, clinical pharmacy etc.
The UG labs have all faculties and
equipped with all instruments needed
for the course designed particals.
Pharma Research Group:
Currently our Pharma research group is invloved in:
Drug Discovery : Targeting the metabolic pathways to search the potential Novel Lead Molecules. Therefore design, synthesis and evaluation research work initiatd in the selected areas.
Process Development :
- Modification of synthetic routes for APIs and Drug intermediates.
- Design of novel synthetic routes and impurities profile for APIs and Drug intermediates.
- Troubleshooting and resolving the problems associated with the process.
- Technology transfer after process development
- Isolation, purification and characterization of Phytoconstituents.
Further, In Vitro evaluation for various activities (e.g. Anti - tuberculosis, Anti cancer, Anti microbial etc.)
Analytical Process Development : Design and development of analytical methods (Using HPLC, UV etc) for APIs and drug intermediates are under taken.
